For the past 18 months I’ve had my own outsourcing company Outsource Success.  I’ve developed close relationships with a couple of Indian companies and have my own office set up in Mauritius where we’ve room for up to 40 Virtual Assistant’s.

I set up Outsource Success because I kept getting ‘harassed’ by my online friends to help them locate reliable outsourcers. I've done that and they're ecstatic wiht teh results. They’ve now been hassling me to share my personal tools and ‘working documents’ with them.

I’ve been able to stay at home and be the main carer for my son Jack (now nearly 5 years old), we’ve had a great time over the past 4 years, I’ve taken him to all the baby groups available, singing, swimming lessons, karate, gym classes, Socatots, coffee mornings, we’ve tried just about everything. 1 A plan to create a viable idea for a
product or service

Before I started my outsourcing business I was a Life Coach for 3 years, I helped numerous clients change direction and help identify their life purpose.

I’ve put together a Mind Map that list's incisive questions you can ask yourself in order to help identify your ideal NICHE or business or in 4HWW terminology your ‘MUSE’.

For long term success, I believe a business needs to be set up in a Niche that you’re passionate and interested in otherwise some who has that passion can and will come in and wipe you out. Also it's going to be more fun!

You need to be sure that YOUR selected niche is viable! Is there a big enough market to support your income goals?

I’ve learnt the hard way and  have WASTED loads of time developing products that I thought were cool but there was no market for. Identify and test your niche first. FAIL FAST! Learn what does nto work fast so you can move onto the next thing.

Your friends and family are unlikely to  have the GUTS OR EXPERTISE to tell you that your idea SUCKS.

If you don’t know how to analyse if your niche will be profitable then your own ‘ fuzzy logic’ could end up getting you in hot water.

There’s hardly any market for tennis related info products while the market for golf information is MASSIVE! On the face if it there should be no real difference. The demographics for both groups are broadly similar?

But...Golfers as a group will do just about anything to be able to hit the ball an extra 20 yards or to cut their handicap by 5 shots, tennis players on the other hand aren’t  interested in getting an extra 10 MPH on their serve. 

So you could end up developing the best tennis product since Jimmy Connors was a lad, but wind up hardly making any money!

2 Take 'stock' of all the tasks that make up your work and personal life - Then pay someone to do the unprofitable ones for you.

I‘ve created another Mind Map where I detail the tasks that I was doing myself and as I created ‘systems and training’ for  my Virtual Assistants I marked the Mind Map accordingly.

If you've read Michael Gerber's E-myth you'll be familiar with what I have done here or you may have seen Rich Schefren's Internet Manifesto. Here's the cover. This really got my head spinning when I realised all the tasks that were involved in running an online business!

I freaked out when I first saw that chart, because I realised how true it was.

I decided to create my own version, over a period of a couple of weeks I jotted down every task that I was doing and in e-myth style I wrote out plans for what I was doing so they could be passed onto a virtual assistant.

It was LIBERATING to see the list of tasks growing that I confidently assigned to my Virtual Assistants as I ‘freed myself up’.

You can have access to my own personal document that you can use as a template and edit according to your own requirements.  I use this mind map as a working document updating it on a weekly basis.

I’ve found it’s vital to have this list of tasks laid out before me, it’s helped me keep my target in front of me and to work to the plan of only doing the tasks that I really enjoy and make me money.

 Mind Maps might not be your cup of tea, no worries put the list onto a spreadsheet or even plain old pen and paper. The important factor is to just do it.

The last major area to consider is marketing.  It’s vital to have

3 Marketing expertise in order to have people purchase your product

Tim Ferriss makes marketing success seem easy in his book, if you’ve never done any marketing before,  there are numerous pitfalls to be aware of and it’s never as easy as it seems.

A few small errors in setting up a Google Adwords account could end up costing you a fortune and stop your project in it’s tracks!

It was easier for Ferriss because he already had a product  that was selling well, he just needed to get himself out of the picture so the business could run itself. It takes a lot of courage to turn your business over to Outsourcers, so I applaud him for that, however he already had the marketing side of things worked out so he started with an advantage .

Your marketing skills are either going to make you or break you

I’m fascinated by marketing and love testing strategies. Keeping my finger on the pulse of what the internet marketing gurus are up to fascinates me, LOL I know it’s sad but I can't help it!

 Most of the strategies that the internet marketers promote are too complicated for those that are just starting out you don’t need  a sledgehammer to crack a nut. I'd suggest that you go through Ed Dales 30 Day Challenge to get you started with marketing if you want to learn yourself. It's the best training you'll find and what's more it's FREE.

Get your foundations established first! Then consider investing in other programs.

Many of my clients have purchased some of the most sophisticated marketing products available, often they ask my team to implement the strategies. So I get to see what is actually working and what is a load of hype.

Most of the programs out there cost anything from $397 to around $10K a pop. I won’t be popular for saying this but I reckon the majority of people who purchase those programs just let them sit and gather dust  and never put them into practice.

I’ve learnt one simple strategy from The Rhodes Brothers', a couple of cool online marketers it's enabled me to set up another muse with only 10 hours work in an area that I'm really interested in cooking and weight loss.

It was so simple I could have kicked myself and he gave the idea away for FREE!

I’d been overcomplicating things, it’s very easy to do  and  the lesson I learnt  AGAIN was to keep things simple.
